Why Bother With Lucid Dreaming?
Lucid dreaming is also often referred to as conscious dreaming, in that one can often exercise a certain degree of control over the dream, unlike with regular dreaming. Basically, lucid dreaming is all about the art of dreaming while at the same time being aware of the fact that it’s a dream, even while you’re a busy dreaming.
Having the power to control the direction of your dreams is something which you need to experience in order for you to appreciate it. When you manage to do this, it’s almost as if every limitation you’ve ever known simply vanishes into space.
Is it really as easy as some people say? Can you experience lucid dreaming and as such, breathe life into something which for years seemed far from reality?
The truth is; lucid dreaming is by no means a difficult task. In fact, if you are serious about learning, then there are various ways you can try which have been tried and tested.
First and foremost, you must be absolutely clear about your objective in trying to master the art of lucid dreaming. Do you just want to have your own private playground in the form of lucid dreams, or is there some other specific reason for developing this skill? Whatever may be the reason, it should be crystal clear in your mind.
The next step regarding the process of developing your skill is that you will need to master a process which is known as “dream recall”. This will then allow you to recall details of the dreams you have. You need to bear in mind that unless you are capable of remembering a dream, you won’t be able to master the art of lucid dreaming.
Admittedly, this process can be incredibly slow although it should be noted that you can achieve this goal by means of a “dream recall register”, which in essence will allow you to write down and many details as you can remember regarding each dream you have. While progress may be slow in the beginning, with time you’ll soon come to discover that you are now able to remember even the finest details of a dream.
Hypnosis is also something which many people have found to have the ability of reducing the amount of time it takes to prepare ones subconscious in preparedness for lucid dreaming. In fact, in many instances, one or two sessions of hypnosis will be adequate for allowing you to remember your dreams consistently. When you reach that point, you know your mind has been suitably conditioned.
A phenomenon which you can expect to experience when in a lucid dream is to suddenly find yourself wide awake. However, considering that by now you will have gathered enough experience and developed enough skill, you will simply be able to go back to sleep and continue the dream where you left off. Of course, you’ll once again have the power to direct the direction of that dream as you see fit.
Another method which comes highly recommended, is that you go back to sleep again after you wake up. You can do this simply by setting your alarm to go off an hour or two before you’re scheduled to get up. When the alarm goes off, turn it off and go back to sleep. These dreams are the closest to lucid dreams and you can be rest assured, you’ll start wondering if they were even dreams to start off with.
Another thing to bear in mind is; it can be immensely beneficial to keep track of your sleeping patterns, so as to determine what is the best time for you to have a lucid dream.
Interestingly enough, lucid dreams also have the ability to help people overcome sleeping disorders such as insomnia. If you have difficulty falling asleep, you simply need to convince yourself that by falling asleep you’ll be able to enjoy a lucid dream. In the vast majority of cases, your mind will take care of all the finer details.
Thanks to recent advances in sound technologies, it no longer requires an excessive amount of time in order to master the art of lucid dreaming. In fact, these breakthroughs have made it considerably easier for people to learn the skill.
Many people who are just starting out find that the quickest way for them to have a lucid dream, is by taking advantage of binaural beats.
Not only do these beets help to align brain waves to the correct frequency required for lucid dreaming, but as they are played in different frequencies in each ear, they have a wonderful relaxing affect.
Prior to binaural beats becoming available, people had no option but to rely on hypnosis techniques but of course, learning such techniques can take many years and as a result many people simply never had the time.
The bottom line is; that by making use of by binaural beats, you should be able to experience lucid dreaming relatively soon after your first attempt, particularly if you combine this sound technology with hypnosis.
