Rooms other than the lounge where fireplaces work well
There is little doubt that in imagining a fireplace at home, you usually think of the living. However, this is certainly not the only room in your house where a fireplace comes in handy and looks good. You should definitely consider other locations where fireplaces could make a difference to the atmosphere or interior design.
Providing us with a place to relax is one of the chief functions of the living room and there’s no doubt that both electric fires and gas fires help reinforce this idea. They add the warmth and the perfect ambience for relaxation making the living feel a good deal more inviting.
It is entirely possible to place a good fireplace in your dining room as well. A lot of homemakers prefer a touch more sophistication where the interior design of the dining room is concerned and fireplaces are available with this in mind. Stone fireplaces are especially highly regarded.
If you have a home office or a small library in your house, then a nice fireplace often makes a really impressive feature. Again, they help improve the comfort levels of the room and they make you want to spend a bit more time in there. Wooden fireplaces are often appropriate for rooms fit with lovely wooden bookcases and other bits of furniture.
It’s also possible to introduce a large fireplace to an area that is reserved for open plan living. This is because a large fireplace can act as a centrepiece – something that is often particularly useful in open plan areas in terms of making effective use of the space available.
Of course, it’s entirely possible that you are governed by space as far as home improvements like this are concerned. In this event, electric fires are fantastic. Electric fires help you achieve that lovely ambience at home by they are compact enough to help you preserve plenty of room.
