How You Drive Has Been Affected By Red Light Cameras
The continued use of red light cameras in Sugar Land appears to remain popular despite Houston voters deciding to stop their use. If you do a fair amount of driving around First Colony Mall and other areas of Sugar Land you have probably seen the street signs warning you of red light cameras and the possibility of getting a ticket.
As a result of red light cameras that are designed to automatically photograph cars whose drivers run red lights, a reasonable number of drivers are very conscious of their existence when they get to an intersection and other drivers don’t seem to notice or care.
I don’t know if I am the only one but when I see the red light camera signs and am approaching an intersection, I even stop for a traffic signal light that just turned yellow. As I stop, I find myself looking in my rear view mirror at the car behind me hoping they will also stop.
Red light cameras have created this problem. Around intersections where they have been installed, there has been an increase in the number of fender bender accidents.
The effectiveness of red light cameras and their ability to reduce traffic accidents and save lives has raised many important concerns. The pros are that cameras lower the number of fatalities and serious traffic accidents. This argument states that accidents with crossing traffic at intersections called t-bone accidents result in more fatalities and casualties than fender benders.
The jury is still out on whether red light cameras are effective at reducing serious traffic accidents at intersections and a growing number of cities have decided to not continue their use.
If and when our city elects to discontinue the red light program, I have a highly recommended Sugar Land attorney to call if I am involved in a fender bender or any type of Sugar Land Auto Accident.
Why have red light cameras increased the importance of having an experienced Sugar Land Auto Accidents Attorney?
