How to Combat Physical Stress

Bodily tension, believe it or not, is typically the result of stress, either emotionally or mentally. Our brains and bodies have a lot of ways to deal with feelings of being overwhelmed and under pressure.

The symptoms can be as straightforward as the ‘gnawing’ in your gut and the tension in your jaw from the clutching of your teeth to as vague as muscle aches and what feels like the common cold. Here are some things that you can do to alleviate the symptoms you might be experiencing.

Hold your muscles in that position for around three seconds or so. Next, loosen them up until you are totally relaxed. Your muscular system will feel a lot better and your brain will get the message that you are in control. Have a break every day to chill. One does not have to have much time to accomplish the aforementioned. Even taking five or ten minutes just for yourself can do quite a bit to help you counteract the effects of physical stress. This time can be accomplished by taking a couple of minutes to sit down by yourself. What is important is that you allow yourself some time each and every day to put your worries and responsibilities aside. You could also benefit by taking longer moments for yourself. A loved book or music could be enjoyed for thirty minutes. Depart on a jog. Accomplish what is a necessity to feel as though you are tending to yourself first.

Change up the food you eat. You have to maintain practically perfect health in other areas of your life if you are experiencing physical stress. Your diet should be balanced and full of nutritious foods, so that means taking it easy with the junk food, no matter how much temporary stress relief it provides. Make sure you are eating the right number of servings of fruit and vegetables as well as grains. The body starts to produce more bile and stomach acid than it needs when you are stressed and grains absorb the excess.

Conquering stress can be extremely difficult. It can be caused by any number of things and manifest in any number of ways. First see your doctor so he can find out what’s really wrong with you and then you can try an over-the-counter remedy or a homeopathic option. It could end up being an injury or illness! You can conquer stress, though, with some effort and time.
